Hello Solomon's Porch!
We are kicking off 2008 with a great new project. A collection of artists will be doing nearly everyone's portrait in our community over the next 12 months. This blog is a way for you to interact with this project. We are hoping that everyone who considers the Porch their home will sign up for their own portrait. Also, if you would like to be one of the artists you can sign up here or contact Luke Hillestad. Either way please sign up by "commenting" on this post.
Here's how it will work:
The artists will draw names randomly for the portraits they will do. If you sign up, you will eventually be contacted by your artist and together you will complete the project. There is no charge to participate in this project. Nevertheless, due to our limited budget and the inevitable cost of art materials - the Art Working Group would gladly receive donations towards this project. On average we estimate the cost of each portrait to be $10. If you would like to contribute please write "PORCHTRAITS" in the memo or on an envelope with the money.
We have 7 artists so far, and we all really look forward to all of this.

Laura - the answer to your question is separate. There will be a standard size for us artists that will be big enough for one person.

I would love to have my portrait done, but other than being home for a few days in March, I don't think I'll be back until June.

hi luke, we're new to soloman's porch, but i have met your beautiful wife at yoga :) i would love our family to be portraitees, bridget (me), aaron (my hubby) and piper (our almost 2 year old daughter) lorentz. not sure if you guys have our contact info? i signed up for the newsletter....
i am a graphic designer/web designer....so if you are interested in having me do some funky digital photograph/art for the portraits, i would love to also be a portraitor. let me know!

Fortunately, at least 164 of you have signed up. But unfortunately, any one that signs up after this post will likely not get their portrait finished before the end of the year. I imagine we'll go full force into 2009, though!
